NATIONAL PUBLIC WORKS WEEK: RECOGNIZING THE PEOPLE WHO KEEP BETHANY MOVING
National Public Works Week is May 17–23, and it's an opportunity to recognize the essential services that support daily life in Bethany and to thank the professionals who deliver them with care and dedication.
Bethany’s Public Works crew carries out a wide range of work that changes with the seasons and the needs of the town. The job often requires early mornings, long days, and responses at odd hours, year-round. It is work that depends on skill, consistency, and experience, and it continues whether conditions are easy or demanding.
Much of what Public Works does happens behind the scenes. Cleared and plowed roads during winter storms, mowed and maintained parks and athletic fields, and clean, welcoming public spaces across Bethany are the result of ongoing effort and attention to detail. These contributions help ensure the town functions smoothly for residents, visitors, and local organizations alike.
National Public Works Week is also a reminder that public safety is a shared responsibility. One of the best ways residents can show appreciation is by slowing down in work zones, following posted signs, and giving crews the space they need to work safely. Keeping a safe distance from active work areas helps prevent accidents, protects workers, and keeps Bethany’s streets safe for everyone.
This week provides an important moment to recognize not only the work being done, but the people behind it. We thank Bethany’s Public Works crew for their dedication, professionalism, and continued service to the community. Their efforts make a lasting difference, and their commitment does not go unnoticed throughout the year as they continue serving the community in every season.
Thank you!
